Junior group leader at the Computational Biochemistry and Biophysics Laboratory Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF)in the Research Unit on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB) within the new Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) and Professor at the Master of bioinformatics for health sciences in Barcelona. Founder and scientific adviser for a new technology company Acellera focused on the use of GPUs in biotechnology. With a bachelor degree in Applied Mathematics from University of Bologna and a PhD in computational chemistry from Queen Mary, University of London, I also worked for the CINECA supercomputing in Italy and spent a three years postdoctoral period in London in the chemistry department at University College London and at University Pompeu Fabra as visiting professor. Currently, I manage the MultiscaleLab group and the distributed computing project GPUGRID.net.
